Frequently Asked Questions Lampe Berger

Frequently Asked Questions Lampe Berger
Q: My Lampe Berger will not light.

Answer:

Is there enough fuel in the Lampe Berger ? It should be at minimum of 1/3 full to ensure the wick can absorb enough fuel right up to the burner.
How old is the burner - it may need replacing. Dependant on how often you use the Lampe Berger - the burner should be replaced approximately every 12 months, working on an average of 1/2hr use per day.
Have you left the flame lit for more than the recommended 3 or so minutes? This can damage the catalytic properties of the burner. You will need to replace the burner now.
Q: My Lampe Berger goes out soon after lighting.

Answer:

Is there enough fuel in the Lampe Berger? - See above answer for details.
Did you leave the flame lit for 2-3 minutes? A new wick takes longer to get working - ensure it is left for 3 minutes before blowing out the flame.
How much fuel is in the Lampe Berger? We recommend that you do not fill the Lampe Berger more than half full. Dependant on the design of the lamp - shorter ones cannot be filled more than half - taller / larger lamps can be filled to 2/3 full. If you have overfilled the lamp then the burner may be 'flooded' - take out the wick and leave on newspaper to evaporate overnight. Pour the excess fuel back into the fragrance bottle. Replace the wick/burner the following day - leave for at least 20 minutes with the snuffer cap in place to allow the wick to soak up the fuel and then light.
Is the wick/burner dirty? There can be a build-up of fragrance residue - which can be 'cleaned off'. To do this you need to use the Neutral fragrance. Empty out the any existing fragrance in the lamp - back into your fragrance bottle. Put a small amoun of Neutral into your lamp - no more thatn 1/3 full is required. Replace the burner and leave for 20 minutes - with the snuffer cap in place. Light the lamp and after blowing out the flame - leave for approx a half hour. You may continue using the Neutral or - pour the remaining fuel back into it's original container. Continue with your favorite fragrance as usual.

Q: My Lampe Berger smokes when I blow out the flame.

Answer:

How long did you leave the flame burning for? Relight and leave for a little longer - no more than 3 minutes or so.
How old is the wick? - You may need to replace if you have used it regularly for 12 months.
Has the wick been left exposed without the snuffer cap in place? There can be smoke from a build up of dust on the burner - this should burn off in a few minutes.
Is the wick/burner dirty? - See answer in above section

Q: What type of Fragrance would you suggest I purchase.

Answer:

Obviously this depends on personal preference - please request sample fragrance tester strips with your order to assist you in this.
When Free fragrances are suppled with lamps - it is not possible to select the fragrance as we do not have any control of what is supplied by Lampe Berger.
If the room you are to use the lampe Berger in is large or you live in an open plan design property - you will need a stronger fragrance - e.g. Royal Jasmin, Orange & Cinnamon....
If the room is small and/or you find fragrances quite heady - you may want to try either the Neutral fragrance or possibly Wild Grass Fields, Cotton Dreams...
These are just a few examples - please contact us giving us your particular circumstances and we can discuss and advise you accordingly.
It is recommended that all Lampe Berger owners should have a bottle of Neutral as a maintenance item to give a longer life to the wick/burner.
